Cookie Policy
Use of Cookies
Our website uses cookies. These are small text files that store information on a device (e.g., smartphone) or in the browser when a website is accessed via an internet browser. They can, among other things, be read by the web server of such a website. Cookies are stored either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (persistent cookies) on the device. Session cookies are automatically deleted once you leave the website. Persistent cookies (e.g., selected language version “German”) remain stored on the device until you delete them yourself, withdraw your consent to the use of cookies, or enable automatic deletion when closing your web browser.
Some of our cookies are so-called function-related cookies (hereinafter also “necessary cookies”) for the technical provision of the website. These are required to provide and enable the functions and an unrestricted use of our website. Processing is based on the legal grounds of contract performance for the use of cookies and on our legitimate interest in the technically error-free and optimized provision of our website and its services (contract performance pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR and our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).
In addition, we use the web analysis and tracking cookies described below. These are subdivided into “preference cookies,” “statistics cookies,” and “marketing cookies.” These are not technically necessary for the operation of the website, but they record and analyze user behavior and help website operators improve the website and its offerings. Their use requires your prior explicit consent. If consent to the storage of cookies has been requested and granted, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of this consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR). You may withdraw your consent to the use of these cookies at any time without providing reasons (see section “Your Rights” below).
Preference cookies allow a website to store certain information and settings, such as your preferred language. Without your consent, regular use of our website will not be impaired, but browsing may be less functional.
Statistics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website. They allow us to count visits, determine behaviors, and identify sources of access. This enables us to measure and improve the performance of our website. Without your consent, use of our website will not be impaired, but we cannot tailor it to the needs of visitors or detect potential errors.
Marketing cookies are used to select the advertising displayed on our website. This allows us to capture and evaluate your interests during your visit in order to target advertising to you as a website user.
You may withdraw your consent to the use of cookies at any time without providing reasons and may delete cookies through the “clear cache” function. If you want to avoid the use of cookies in advance, you can deactivate/block storage of cookies in your browser, restrict them (e.g., restrict third-party cookies), or configure your browser to notify you when a cookie is being sent. Blocking cookies may result in limited functionality of the website.
Below you will find an overview of the cookies used on our website that require consent, along with detailed information on their respective providers (third-party cookies). A third-party cookie is a cookie placed on our website that does not originate from the actual domain visited by the user but from another provider whose services we use. Some third-party providers may process your data in the USA. In this context, we point out that the European Commission has not currently certified the USA as providing an adequate level of EU data protection, and corresponding protection cannot therefore be guaranteed.
1. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analysis tracking service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Google Analytics generates a random, unique ID linked to your browser cookie using a tracking code. This allows us to recognize you as a new user or, upon return, as a recurring user. The collected data is stored together with this user ID. Interactions carried out on our website (e.g., clicking on a link) are measured and stored using cookies and app instance IDs, then transmitted to and stored on Google Analytics servers.
We receive reports from Google regarding your behavior on our website (audiences, ads, etc.).
We use Google Analytics to analyze and regularly improve the use of our website. The resulting statistics allow us to improve our offerings and make them more interesting for users (legal basis: your consent to the use of third-party cookies under Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, as well as our legitimate interest in evaluating visitor behavior for continuous optimization under Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR).
You can disable processing of your data in Google Analytics by downloading and installing the appropriate browser add-on: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/181881?hl=en. Deactivation applies only to data collection by Google Analytics.
Further information on Google’s terms of use, privacy policy, and legal framework for data transfers (Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions) can be found at: https://policies.google.com/?hl=en&gl=en and https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks?hl=en.
In the context of Google Analytics, we also use Google Tag Manager. This is a solution for organizing tracking tools, allowing us to centrally implement and manage code sections (“tags”) of tracking tools on our website. Tags can track your activities on our site, collect browser data, and integrate buttons. The resulting data helps us understand user interests and improve services. Google Tag Manager itself does not collect personal data or set cookies. It acts only as an “administrator” of the implemented tags. The tool triggers other tags that may collect data, but Google Tag Manager itself does not access such data. (Legal basis: your consent under Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, as well as our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR in improving our services technically and economically through behavioral analysis.)
2. YouTube
Our website may use plugins of YouTube, operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. With embedded YouTube videos, we provide additional content beyond texts and images. When visiting a page equipped with a YouTube plugin, YouTube sets at least one cookie that stores your IP address and our URL once you start playing a video. The YouTube server is informed about which of our pages you have visited.
If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your interactions on our website to your profile using cookies. This includes data such as session duration, technical details (browser type, screen resolution, etc.), ratings, sharing of content via social media, or adding videos to favorites. If you are not logged in, only data linked to your device/browser (e.g., preferred language) is retained, while many interaction data are not stored because fewer cookies are set. (Legal basis: your consent to the use of third-party cookies under Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, and our legitimate interest in optimizing our website to provide a positive user experience, Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR). Further information: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en.
3. Facebook Pixel
We use the “visitor action pixel” of Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). This allows us to track user actions after they have seen or clicked on a Facebook ad and subsequently visited our website. When the pixel is triggered, it records your actions on our website in one or more cookies, enabling Facebook to match your IP address with your Facebook account. Facebook then deletes this data.
This allows us to measure the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. The collected data is anonymous to us, meaning we cannot identify individual users. Data is only usable within ad campaigns. If you are logged into your Facebook account, your visit to our site is automatically linked to your account. (Legal basis: your consent under Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, and our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR in tailoring advertising to user interests.) Facebook may also use the data for its own advertising purposes under its privacy policy and legal frameworks: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/ and https://www.facebook.com/business/gdpr.
4. Newsletter
We offer a newsletter in which we inform you regularly about Solarwing news and offers. To subscribe, you must provide your email address. By agreeing to receive the newsletter, you consent to its delivery (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR).
You may withdraw your consent to receive the newsletter at any time without giving reasons, using the unsubscribe option at the end of each newsletter. After withdrawal, your personal data will be deleted immediately.
Processing of Applications
If you apply to us in writing, by email, or via a contact form, your personal data will be processed for the purpose of initiating an employment relationship. If we intend to use your data for other purposes, we will request your separate consent (e.g., to keep your data on file for future vacancies). (Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR).
Applicant data will generally be deleted 6 months after the end of the application process, unless you expressly consent to us keeping your documents on file. If you accept the offered position, your data will be processed within the framework of employment and retained for as long as required by law.
Automated Decision-Making
Automated decisions mean decisions affecting you are made solely by computer-based processing (software algorithms) without human review. No automated decision-making takes place in connection with the Solarwing system.
Security
We have implemented technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, manipulation, and unauthorized access. All our employees and third parties involved in processing are obligated to comply with data protection laws and handle personal data confidentially.
When personal data is collected and processed, the information is transmitted in encrypted form to prevent misuse by third parties. Our security measures are continuously updated in line with technological developments.
Your Rights
As a data subject, you have the following rights under GDPR:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR): Right to know whether and to what extent we process your personal data.
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): Right to request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): Right to request deletion of your personal data.
